Movie – Mully

One person CAN change the world.

Mully’s story is one of the best illustrations of the power of one, one person really can change the world. Heroes don’t always know what they are doing at first but having the right heart and sticking with it can make up for starting with a sketchy plan. I especially liked the domino effect his school is having on Kenya, the first and second generations of children that Mully has helped have gone on to improve the world in their own ways. He has taken child beggars, thieves, and drug addicts and turned them into lawyers, government officials, businesspeople, mothers, and fathers.

“Mully” is a documentary film that chronicles the fascinating life of Charles Mully, a Kenyan entrepreneur who went from being a street child to building a successful business empire. At the apex of his financial success, Mully undergoes a profound transformation after an encounter with homeless teens, leading him to sell all his businesses and use the proceeds to rescue and rehabilitate thousands of abandoned children in Kenya. Mully’s mission to provide a better life for those in need is at first marred by chaos as his family struggles to accept the new “selfless” Mully and a home bursting with street kids. Eventually, his actions coalesce into a cooperative school and the difference he makes to the homeless children, and Kenya at large, is astounding.
